Ktima initial delivery by Camilo Rebelo Arquitectura, August 2012
Ktima, has been given initial delivery after 13 months of construction. Final delivery shall be given in October 2012, with the completion and planting of the exterior areas. Ktima is the first completed project for the young Portugese practice by Camilo Rebelo Arquitectura, following an interest by OLIAROS to engage young architects that may not have constructed before. Camilo Rebelo has also designed Tree House.
Doxiadis+ is the landscape architect and Dionysis Zacharias the execution architect of the project.
Architects Camilo Rebelo and Susana Martins were inspired by the Cycladic characteristics of rule and order, taking into account volume, colour, matter and openings to create a contemporary take on Cycladic architecture. The composition of the Ktima house is based on a simple rule: volumes with maximum dimensions of 5x10 meters and the overall concept for the house, located in a plot of 25.560 sq. meters, is based on the connection of both sides of the valley by a bridge.
By adding volumes and defining the voids, the design opens the interior and the yards for the two most relevant aspects of the landscape: the sea and the surrounding hill topography.
The building extremities are defined by terraces with views or holes and accesses to views. The location of the house is linked with the topography and designed for the most impressive views.

The interior (looking East and West) is organized with the rooms on the North side with the living room and a terrace in the middle near the entrance. The dinning and kitchen are in the South part of the house. These last spaces have a direct relation with a long promenade composed by the exterior dinning and the swimming pool area.
